Steve Owen brightens the lives of some special kids
13/4/2005 22:07 (Press Release) -
Fujitsu Racing's Steve Owen spent a few hours brightening the lives of some of the kids at Nepean Special School in Seaford on Friday. Steve spent the visit chatting about life as a V8 Supercar driver, signing posters, having photographs taken and enjoying morning tea with the kids and teachers.
The visit was conducted following an invitation from Robbie, a student at the school, as part of their program to learn about careers in the community. A keen V8 Supercar and Ford fan, Robbie and his classmates, also keen followers of Motorsport, were eager to learn about Steve and life as a V8 Supercar driver.
The visit was a great success with smiles all round from both Steve, the kids and staff at the Nepean Special School. The kids loved being up close and personal with one of their heroes, giving Steve hugs, handshakes and a letter of appreciation for the day. “It was so great for the kids, and teachers, to have Steve come and visit today”
said Kate Sims, a teacher at Nepean.
“The kids were great today, and their knowledge of V8 Supercars was fantastic. They all got involved and seemed to enjoy it. It was a lot of fun and a pleasure to spend the time with these great kids. Hopefully the team has gained a few more fans for the years ahead” said Owen.
Some of the kids are very keen to attend the next race meeting in Melbourne, and all are eagerly awaiting the next round of the V8 Supercar series in New Zealand, 15th – 17th April, so they can cheer on the Fujitsu Racing Ford BA Falcon.
