13/4/2005 21:47 (Press Release) -
Britek Motorsport has entered the Motorsport arena in fine fashion, running all four cars at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. Results were seen both on and off the track, with Britek receiving significant media exposure across the Event. All four cars return to the Dandenong Workshop straight in what was an action packed weekend which saw several cars destroyed across all three categories
Fernandez Flies
Jose Fernandez continued the success for Britek Motorsport by placing the Fujitsu Racing BA falcon 7th on the grid during qualifying. Fernandez was running well during race one until he clipped a tyre barrier on turn 11 breaking a lower upright bolt forcing him to retire. Race 2 saw Fernandez relegated to the rear of the field, however the Flying Spaniard dug deep and worked his way through the field finishing race 2 in 7th position.
Britek Supercars find speed
The Fujitsu Racing V8 Supercars of Steve Owen and Matthew White delivered a great Result overall. Both Owen and White Struggled to find the right set up during practice and qualifying, however come race day’s the Fujitsu Racing Supercars were on the money. Race one on Saturday was tough with Cockpit temperatures up at around 50 degrees, both Owen and White had good speed running just outside the top 10. Owen battled with a sticky throttle and White unfortunately lost electrical power with a faulty alternator. Race 2 saw the Britek Boy’s back in hunt, the race was wild with many cars greeting the concrete walls of Adelaide’s Parkland Street circuit.
Owen shows strong potential with new team
White and Owen finished in a strong 12th and 13th place respectively, right behind team founder Jason Bright and delighted the hard-working team by bringing home two straight cars at the completion of two grueling days of racing. Team General Manager Chris Jewell went on to say "The weekend was effectively our first official test and familiarisation session and we spent some time getting good cohesion within the team.
It's no easy task to enter, prepare and race four cars in three different categories and the entire team have excelled on this front. All of our cars are in one piece and we have gained an enormous amount of data and experience from what is the toughest weekend of racing we will experience. For Matthew and Steve to come home well inside the top 15 is a great achievement and will provide a solid platform for us to build on”
