Canto's back-to-back Clipsal wins

13/4/2005 17:31 (Press Release) - Dean Canto has driven his Gatorz backed BA Falcon to another victory at this weekend's Clipsal 500 V8 meet in Adelaide today. Canto again won easily from Adam Macrow and Tony D'Alberto to top off a perfect weekend for the Sydney based V8 driver.

His twin victories aside, Canto took his first ever V8 pole and this morning broke the track record for the category.

Canto broke the track record by three-10ths of a second despite the extra 100 kilos that all 2005 season development series cars have to carry.

The win takes Canto's victory tally to seven wins from 17 race starts and 14 podiums from 17.

"I'm proud of my level two record," Dean Canto.

"I could never have believed that I'd get these results, I just go out and do what I'm paid to do, race V8 Supercars."

The 2000 champ has made the perfect start to the season and hopes to continue his winning form throughout the series.

"The Gatorz Ford is a very strong car, the team have given me a winner which I am grateful for," Canto said.

"All I can do is continue to drive as best I can.

"I'm confident that I'll have a very good, consistent car all season.

"Two wins from two races is a great start, we'll all be working hard to ensure this continues."
