HILLS INDUSTRIES IN ON THE ADELAIDE ACTION
7/4/2005 18:33 (Press Release) -
When the Orrcon Racing Falcons take to the circuit in Adelaide for the opening round of the V8 Supercar Championship this weekend they will be joined by one of South Australia’s leading company’s, Hills Industries.
Hills Industries are one of South Australia’s largest employees with in excess of 1200 staff employed throughout the state and over 2500 across Australia.
This weekend the staff of Hills Industries will have a team to support allowing them to feel a part of one of Adelaide’s largest events of the year.
“The simple fact is that Adelaide is our home town. Joining with Larkham Motor Sport along side Orrcon, who are already associated with Hills Industries in a business sense, provides a lot of home town interest in the team,” said Hills Industries Managing Director, David Simmons.
“When you do the sums there will be 25% of Adelaide’s population attending this weekend. It makes sense for us to be involved with the team and provide our staff with sense of involvement by providing them with an interest in the team and their performance.”
The partnership with Hills provides the team with extra incentive as they push for success in the opening round of the Championship.
“For the second year in a row it is great to have the support of an Australian icon company such as Hills Industries at this event. Through their association with Orrcon and Adelaide being Hills’ home town it provides further impetus for a good result by the team this weekend,” said team owner Mark Larkham.
In last year’s Clipsal 500 Jason Bargwanna overcame a gearbox problem to pass 16 cars during the second 250km leg to finish fifth. His Larkham – Orrcon Racing team-mate Mark Winterbottom was running strongly inside the top ten before a high speed incident ended his good run within sight of the finish.
The V8 Supercars hit the track for the first time tomorrow with practice in the morning followed by qualifying and the top ten shootout in the afternoon.
