Double Vision for Castrol Team Perkins Racing

7/4/2005 15:45 (Press Release) - Castrol Team Perkins Racing only has eyes for first prize which has been so closely within reach the past two years at the Clipsal 500, Adelaide. Steven Richards and Paul Dumbrell have finished 2nd and 7th respectively in the 2003 and 2004 events, results that appear to be against all odds of re-occurring for a third year in a row.

The Holden VY Commodore recently proved it had the speed to out-qualify the rest of the field at the Australian Grand Prix. Richards and Dumbrell feel they have the right package to take on 156 laps around the streets of Adelaide.

After spending the off-season executing a demanding training regime following a shoulder reconstruction, Dumbrell said he was up to the task and looking forward to the opportunity to step back into the car,

“Adelaide is a challenge, one where you need 100% fitness or you really don’t perform up to standards. I feel I am now fit enough and just want to get in and race” Dumbrell said.

“I have been training hard over the off season to recoup after the operation and I now feel confident my fitness won’t hinder my performance.”

Richards is also looking forward to the inaugural event of the race season, an event which demands nothing but peak performances from both car and driver.

“Last year it was great to get a podium finish. The team did a fantastic job at getting the car to perform as well as it did and we were very pleased with the overall result.” Richards said.

“This year I have something to aim toward. Everyone is out there to win, but I really want to take that next step up the podium on Sunday afternoon.”

With two cars being entered at Adelaide, the team has twice the data to improve performance across the weekend. After displaying impressive speed at the AGP the Castrol Commodore is in fine form to battle the streets of Adelaide.

The Clipsal 500 will also see the launch of the highly anticipated 2005 TPR merchandise. With a brand new range that is designed specifically for Holden fans, be sure to look the part as you barrack the red and green Commodores to the checkered flag.

You can find the wide range of apparel on display in ‘Holden Heaven’ located in the merchandise area at the Clipsal 500. If you are unable to attend the event, keep an eye on the official website at www.perkinsmotorsport.com.au for more details.
