Cleland returns for another crack at Mountain

1/9/2000 17:01 (V8 Wire - Jason Whittaker) - Everyone’s favourite racing Brit, John Cleland, will return to his favourite racing circuit, Mt. Panorama, for another crack at the Bathurst 1000km classic with Rodney Forbes.

48-year-old Cleland will partner Forbes in his Gary Dumbrell-prepared Wynn’s Racing Commodore in the race.

The two-time British Touring Car Champion has become a regular visitor to Australia’s greatest motor race over the past few years, with four Bathurst starts to his name.

His best result came in 1995 sharing Tony Scott’s Pinnacle Motorsport Commodore, finishing sixth.

Cleland partnered Cameron McLean in the event last year, but the Greenfield Mowers Falcon failed to finish.

Forbes and Cleland will campaign the ex-Greg Murphy K-Mart Commodore, after Forbes recently took delivery of the car.

Forbes will team with Paul Morris at Queensland Raceway’s OzEmail 500 next weekend.
