Team Dynamik aims for Clipsal 500

7/4/2005 14:41 (Press Release) - Team Dynamik looks forward to the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide with good car speed and growing confidence after this weekend's pre-season races at the Australian Grand Prix.

Dynamik's Will Davison, at the wheel of the Boomerang Phonecard car #44 for his first full season of V8 Supercars, impressed all with his pace in early practice and Races 1 and 2 before an unfortunate DNF one lap into today's Race 3.

The 22-year-old forged his way from 16th to 13th in Friday's first 10-lapper, then followed up with an ice-cool drive in Saturday's trying wet-then-dry conditions over 19 laps to place 11th.

Davison started well today but collected Steve Ellery's Ford on the second lap ending the race for both drivers, inflicting only panel damage to the front left quarter of the VZ Commodore.

He had been as high as seventh on Saturday before his wet-weather tyres went off and he slipped back in the Race 2 placings.

Team Dynamik's car #45 driver, Tony Longhurst, spent the early part of the weekend familiarising himself with V8 Supercar racing again after some time out of the game. However, he was in the thick of the action midway through race 1 when a tag from behind spun the Boomerang Phonecard #45 to the rear of the field.

But his experience shone in the gloomy conditions in race 2, when he carved his way from 30th to 16th. Midpack chaos claimed him again in race 3, when he was forced into a sandtrap and could not make it back on track.

Team Dynamik Technical Director Oscar Fiorinotto said the Team had made a positive start to 2005, with Thursday's announcement of new sponsor Boomerang Card and a strong on-track performance.

"We fielded two good reliable cars and the whole Team worked together superbly."

"The two new engines performed well and the cars were fast all weekend, reflecting some developments we have made over the off-season," he said.

"It was also a good solid debut for Davison, and he had a real go in his first real hitout on fresh tyres in a Dynamik car," Fiorinotto said.

The Team now travels home to Adelaide to prepare for the season-opening Clipsal 500 from 16-20 March.
