PIRTEK SUPPORTS AMBROSE MOVE TO THE US

Marcos Ambrose’s announcement that he is to pursue racing interests in North America in 2006 has been supported by his major sponsor Pirtek.
Ambrose has driven a Stone Brothers Racing-prepared Pirtek Falcon to the last two V8 Supercar Championship titles and will be chasing a third series trophy this year.
Ambrose is discussing several opportunities with Ford USA and hopes to have a firm contract in place within a few months. His eventual goal is a drive in the NASCAR Nextel Cup.
Pirtek has been a long-time sponsor of SBR and has developed a terrific relationship with Ambrose during the past five years, according to Pirtek Managing Director, Glenn Duncan.
“Marcos Ambrose has been a great ambassador for Pirtek Racing and the sport of V8 Supercars,” said Duncan.
“We have experienced tremendous success with Marcos and Stone Brothers Racing and the journey is a long way from over with a third consecutive title the goal this season.
“The opportunity which has been presented to Marcos offers some great new challenges and we support him 100 per cent of the way.”
Ambrose said that to have the support of Pirtek, Ford and SBR on his new journey was important to him.
“I have to thank Pirtek for their support over the past five years,” said Ambrose.
“Glenn and Peter Duncan, General Manager Steve Dutton, all the Pirtek franchisees and their families have become tremendous supporters of mine and Stone Brothers Racing.
“I have developed so many friendships which I am sure will last long after my racing career has come to an end.
“While I will be heading to the US next season, everyone at Pirtek and who is a fan of Pirtek Racing can be assured our focus this year is to win a third consecutive V8 Supercar title before anything else.”
In the meantime, Ambrose will complete the three non-support races at this weekend’s Foster’s Australian Formula One Grand Prix before heading to Adelaide for the opening round of the 2005 V8 Supercar Championship Series on March 17-20.
