Pleasing pace for Team Betta
22/3/2005 19:29 (Press Release) -
Race One of the Australian Grand Prix demonstrated the power to come for Team Betta Electrical. Both Falcon BAs displayed a pleasing pace and despite running off the track on lap nine, Craig Lowndes, in Car 888, showed that he has what it takes to keep the pace at the front.
"Coming into the ninth lap, I was a little off line and lost the back end of the car," said Craig. "Up to that point, I kept on the Team Kiwi car's tail and kept trying to push through. It just goes to show how important it is to qualify well. It's pretty tight with the leading bunch - there's so little between each of us and you got to be always on the ready to find that strategic break to get out front."
Steve Ellery gained eight positions on yesterday's qualifying result and managed to avoid any of the trouble on track. Finishing in 15th position, Steve is set up to continue his steady climb as he goes into Race 2 of the AGP on Saturday.
Despite what may seem mixed results, Team Betta Electrical are proving that the new cars and engines are primed for the Series and the coming races will see ongoing improvement.
Race 2 of the AGP begins at 2.30pm Saturday and is 19 laps.
