The all new Team BOC Falcons of Brad Jones and John Bowe have taken to the track today at the Australian Grand Prix in what is the first unofficial outing of the V8 Supercars for 2005. The Albert Park street circuit in Melbourne has hosted a V8 Supercar practice and qualifying session today with #12 Team BOC driver, John Bowe setting impressive lap times during both jaunts. Bowe has virtually started where he left off last season, qualifying 11th for tomorrow’s opening race. Brad Jones suffered a broken front anti roll bar in the opening stages of the qualifying session, which made his #21 Team BOC almost impossible to steer quickly through corners. The amount of time needed to replace the bar outstretched the time in the session, so he was forced to battle on. His 28th place result was a reflection of the car problems.

“We came to the AGP with the mindset that we were going to use the event as a test session. We have been working hard during the off-season to develop some new initiatives for the cars and we’ve only been able to test them once so far. Today’s results were quite good, we gained in some areas and lost in others but overall we’re pretty happy with 11th. If we can come away this weekend understanding our car better then I will be even more happier.”

Quotes: Brad Jones

“Whilst we were disappointed with the problem we had with the car, some other areas of my Team BOC Falcon felt really good. Through the corners though, it was all over the place. We tried to make some adjustments during the session to compensate but in reality there was never going to be a way to work through a snapped anti roll bar. I can’t wait until tomorrow, its been three months since I’ve raced so I’m itching to get back into the competitive spirit.”
