BJR Join V8 Ute Series

17/3/2005 17:35 (Press Release) - Factory Ford V8 Supercar team, Brad Jones Racing will join the V8 Ute
category this year after announcing today that they will prepare and run
Dave Griffin’s Pedigree Racing V8 Ute in the 2005 Championship.

It’s a switch of camps for Griffin, who in the past has run a Holden
Commodore Ute but will enter the blue oval ranks this year with his new
Falcon XR8 V8 Ute.

According to BJR Team Principal Brad Jones, the foray into V8 Utes is a
natural progression for the ever-growing Albury based operation.

“When it was announced that the V8 Utes would be a regular support category
to the V8 Supercars this year, it made a lot of sense for us to add a Ute
team to our operation. We are able to get economies of scale at a number of
rounds as well as be part of the growing V8 Ute category.”

“We have the added advantage that Dave [Griffin] is based locally in the
Albury/Wodonga region and his major sponsor, Pedigree, has also been
involved with BJR over years. So there is synergy at the corporate level as
well.”

“All in all it is a perfect fit for us,” Jones concluded.

Griffin, who is stalwart of the V8 Ute series is brimming with confidence
after signing the partnership with BJR. Griffin has been a serious
championship contender in the past and now firmly believes that his new Ford
V8 Ute will give him what he needs to clinch the 2005 title.

“To go into this season knowing that I have my car prepared by one of the
best motorsport outfits in Australia is a huge boost.”

“Not only are BJR a factory Ford team but they have proven over the last 10
years that no matter what category, they can produce some of the best race
cars around,” said Griffin.

“I’m also looking forward to driving a Ford. The Ute I’m driving is Grant
Denyer’s championship winning car from last year, plus I have the resources
behind me of a team that know Fords inside out, so 2005 could well be my
year,” Griffin concluded.

The V8 Utes kick off this weekend, along with the V8 Supercars as support to
the Formula One cars at the Australian Grand Prix. The V8 Utes will also
join the V8 Supercars at the Clipsal 500 (Adelaide), Eastern Creek (Sydney),
Hidden Valley (Darwin), Sandown 500 (Melbourne), Indy 300 (Gold Coast) and
Symmons Plains (Launceston).
