Dexion Racing's new look

17/3/2005 17:16 (Press Release) - Here is the first look at Dexion Racing’s all-new Ford Falcon BA that will contest this year’s V8 Supercar Development Championship. The design of the red and white Dexion Falcon remains largely unchanged from last year’s striking scheme, but its what counts under the paint that will make the difference on the track in 2005.

The Victorian team, which finished a creditable fifth place in the non-championship race at Bathurst last October, have taken delivery of Anthony Tratt’s ex-Toll Barra, which only competed in a handful of main game V8 Supercar races in 2003.

Team driver Tony Evangelou will conduct a test in the coming days, before heading to the first round of the second-tier V8 series at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500 next month.

Evangelou was thrilled with look of his new toy and can’t wait to get it out on the track.

“The Ford has really come up well,” he said.

“It is the same scheme we ran last year, only with some slight modifications. I’m sure it will stand out on television too. The red and white really grabs your attention, but hopefully it’s the results on the track that makes everyone stand up and take notice.”

Dexion Racing has a number of new sponsors on board for 2005, including PPG, Plyboard Distributors and Interoll, who will occupy the front bumper of the car.”

The team has also changed its racing number. The Dexion Ford will adorn #30, instead of #300.

The V8 Supercar Development Series this year sees a large number of main game V8 Supercar teams take an interest in the series, both by entering cars or ensuring their endurance drivers are in competitive seats.

On the Ford side of the ledger, Dick Johnson Racing will take part with two cars for Dean Canto and television personality Grant Denyer.

Warren Luff, who drove for DJR in 2004, will drive with Championship-winning team Stone Brothers Racing later this year, but in the meantime, will be seen steering the ex-Russell Ingall BA for Paul Cruickshank Racing in the Development Championship.

Adam Macrow will keep match fit in a Howard Racing BA before linking with Queensland team Triple 8, and Steve Ellery Racing has pencilled in two cars for competitive Development regulars Mark Porter and Gary MacDonald.

The quantity of Holden’s entry in the Development Series is not large, but the quality is first-class.

Tony D’Alberto will campaign an ex-Kmart Racing Commodore, while Smiths Trucks Racing will enter the series at selected rounds in their fast VY.

The first round of the Development championship is at the Clipsal 500 between 17-20 March.
