Stellar year ahead for Team Betta Electrical
17/3/2005 17:12 (Press Release) -
With further consolidation of Triple Eight Race Engineering going in to 2005, Team Betta Electrical is set for a stellar Championship Season. At the official team launch at Metro Ford in Brisbane on Friday 25th February, Team Principal, Roland Dane expressed his excitement for the upcoming season.
“Last year was our first full year racing in the V8 Supercar Championship and over the last 12 months we’ve put several projects in motion to set us on the road to success in 2005.
“The engine development joint venture that we have formed with Stone Brothers Racing, the expansion of our operations and consolidation of our own Team in Brisbane and not least the fact that Craig Lowndes and Steve Ellery have signed on as our drivers should auger well for a year that keeps the other teams on their toes,” said Dane at the launch.
“Supporting that is our excellent stable of partners that back the Team. Betta Stores Limited remains as our primary partner and Ford Australia also continues to support us with technical and financial assistance,” explained Dane.
“In addition to this, we have some twenty other partners who provide a variety of financial or in-kind support to the Team – each of them invaluable in running a premier racing team.”
It’s no secret that Craig Lowndes and Steve Ellery have signed on and the launch provided an official platform to announce the 2005 lineup, which also includes Adam Macrow and Yvan Muller as the endurance drivers.
"Being part of the Triple Eight team affords me with tremendous opportunities on a variety of levels," said Lowndes.
"Triple Eight are poised for huge success in 2005. They have demonstrated sheer initiative in the sport and also leveraged the knowledge gained from their UK Touring Car wins to develop a first rate team. The engine partnership that Triple Eight are forging with Stone Brothers Racing is also very exciting for me as a driver.
"Ultimately, I'm enormously attracted to a team that thinks outside the square. The merchandising and marketing of Team Betta Electrical is set to reposition this sport. And as a driver, the technical and engineering excellence offered by Triple Eight Race Engineering is going to be a dream to work with."
As part of the formal proceedings at the launch, the Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Campbell Newman, was presented as the Number One Ticket Holder. Triple Eight and Team Betta Electrical intend to brand themselves as Brisbane’s V8 Supercar Team and this strategy was clearly demonstrated in the newly forged relationship with the Lord Mayor.
Team Betta Electrical run their first race at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne next weekend.
