FPR 2005 REVEALED AT THE AUSTRALIAN MOTORSPORT SHOW
17/3/2005 15:54 (Press Release) -
Prodrive Executive Chairman and recent CBE (Commander of
the British Empire) recipient, David Richards, joined Ford Performance Racing
(FPR) Managing Director David Flint and new team drivers Jason Bright and Greg
Ritter in unveiling the team's new liveries for the 2005 season today at the
Australian Motorsport Show in Melbourne.
Both FPR BA Falcons now feature a new version of the highly popular bird of
prey livery design, produced by Ford Australia designer, Adrian Magu. Jason
Bright's CAT FPR Falcon incorporates the corporate colours of FPR major sponsor
Caterpillar of Australia, along with some new features that complement the
attractive BA Falcon design lines, giving the FPR Falcon a more striking
appearance.
Greg Ritter's Ford Credit FPV Falcon follows the same aggressive bird of prey
livery design, giving the familiar blue, white and red BA Falcon a new
appearance, while retaining its familiar blue oval inspired colour scheme.
Aside from revealing the team's exciting new war paint and merchandise range
ahead of this year's challenging thirteen round Australian V8 Supercar
Championship, today also marked the start of a new era for the FPR, as it
strives for success in the world's toughest touring car series.
"There has been a great deal of unfulfilled expectation since we launched FPR
three years ago," David Richards said at today's launch. "There is no doubt
that we have made some mistakes along the way as any new team does when
competing in such an intensely competitive Championship. Having spent the last
three weeks at FPR, I am convinced that we can now show a significant
improvement during the course of the 2005 season," David added.
David Richards was supported in his views by 2005 CAT FPR Falcon driver Jason
Bright. "I have never been involved with a team that has displayed as much
potential as FPR. All I can say is that I am very excited about the season
ahead - returning to Ford with a team that I believe has displayed merely the
tip of the iceberg in terms of their race winning potential," Jason said.
Today's launch marked the start of the three day 2005 Australian Motorsport
Show being held at the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton. FPR drivers Jason
Bright and Greg Ritter will be visiting fans at the FPR stand from 12:00pm to
3:00pm on Sunday, February 20.
Since FPR was established at the start of the 2003 season, the blue oval team
has raced to six V8 Supercar podium finishes including one round victory and
two consecutive runner-up places at Bathurst.
