Public to get taste of BigPond Mobile Media Centre

16/2/2005 19:03 (Press Release) - Motorsport fans will get an insight into how state of the art broadband technology is being used to support the V8 Supercar Championship when the BigPond Mobile Media Centre attends the Australian Motorsport Show February 18-20.

The multi-million dollar B-Double transporter also will be fully operational for all media who attend the official press day on Friday 18th February before transforming into an interactive technology centre for the general public for the remainder of the show.

Throughout the weekend event-goers can tour the Mobile Media Centre, which is home to journalists at all Australian rounds of the V8 championship, and sample the industry-leading content available on BigPond Broadband.

BigPond’s V8 Supercars broadband website was recently selected as the “Best of the Best” at the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association’s 11th annual national awards in Sydney.

Not only did it pick up the top prize of the night, www.v8supercar.bigpond.com also was judged the “Best Entertainment” and “Best Sport” site in the country. The awards were judged by more than 100 of the top names in the Australian on-line and interactive media industry.

BigPond Managing Director Mr Justin Milne said that opening the BigPond Mobile Media Centre to the public would give those fans that don’t currently have broadband the opportunity to experience the award winning V8 Supercar website first hand.

“Not only will those attending the motorsport show be given a rare insight into this amazing technology centre, they will also be able to go online and surf the wide range of content BigPond has on offer including movies, music, games, AFL, NRL and Horseracing.

“Usually only a handful of people are privy to the facilities in the BigPond Mobile Media Centre but at the Australian Motorsport Show every one will be welcome to come inside and experience the technology and infrastructure,” Mr Milne added.

The BigPond Mobile Media Centre will also host interviews and autograph sessions on Sunday February 20 with Ford Performance Racing’s Jason Bright and Steve Owen and Matthew White from the newly formed Britek Racing Team.
