Brock hits the hammer for Charity Breakfast

16/2/2005 18:36 (Press Release) - It’s his 60th birthday yet rather than wanting to receive presents, Australian motor racing icon Peter Brock is in a charitable mood! To celebrate the significant milestone, the Australian Motorsport Show is hosting the Peter Brock Charity Breakfast on Friday, 18 February and the Bathurst legend will bring the hammer down on a number of items including a new Holden Astra Classic donated by Holden, with all proceeds going towards the Peter Brock Foundation.

While the new car is the prize item, also up for grabs are a number of significant pieces of memorabilia such as Brock’s Holden Racing Team driving suit from last year’s Bathurst 1000, one of his original open face racing helmets, a painting by renowned international motorsport artist Don Packwood and corporate hospitality passes to this year’s Foster’s Australian Grand Prix.

MC’d by Network Ten motorsport commentator Neil Crompton, the charity breakfast will feature guest speakers personally selected by Brock including the colourful and inspirational swimming coach Laurie Lawrence, Olympic medallist Matt Welsh and the mercurial Peter Daicos, former star of Brock’s beloved Collingwood footy club.

A selection of Brock’s classic cars, amongst the many other cars and exhibits at the third annual motorsport show which kicks off the new racing season, will also be on display.

The Australian Motorsport Show is being held at the Royal Exhibition Buildings in Carlton on 18-20 February, with the Peter Brock Charity Breakfast beginning at 7.00am

Tickets for the breakfast cost $165 + GST per head, with $50 from each ticket donated directly to the Peter Brock Foundation and tables of 10 are available. Every attendee will receive a special, limited edition Brock 60th year poster.

Bookings can be made by contacting the Australian Motorsport Show on (03) 9598 9101.
