Mark Porter joins Steve Ellery Racing
27/1/2005 7:53 (Press Release) -
Steve Ellery Racing today announced that it will campaign a brand-new BA Ford Falcon in 2005 to be driven by Mark Porter in the 2005 V8 Supercar Development Series.
In making the announcement, SER Team Principal Bruce Ellery enthused, ‘We are extremely happy to welcome Mark into the Ellery Racing family. In 2004 the team achieved equal first in this series, but the “prize” escaped us on a count-back - this year we aim to be clear champions.
Gold Coast based Porter, who debuted in the series in 2002, is confident SER can supply the package to win the championship. ‘I joined Ellerys because they have the equipment, expertise and personnel for me to achieve that.’
SER is currently fitting out a brand-new Beehag Falcon BA shell for Porter.
In his debut V8 Supercar year, Mark Porter achieved a very creditable series 4th. He went one better the following year - 2003 - and attained another podium finishing 3rd (coincidentally behind SER’s Luke Youlden) in the 2004 series.
Bruce Ellery very happily supported Mark’s belief, saying, ‘His results for the last three years prove he can do the job.’
