
Tickets and travel for Shanghai 2005

The historic debut of the V8 Supercar Championship Series in China gathered further momentum today with the confirmation of ticket prices and the appointment of the official travel agent for the event next June.
More than 5000 Australians are expected to be amongst the 100,000 or more people at the first race in Shanghai at the $600 million Shanghai International Circuit. The event is being supported by the Australian and Queensland Governments.
A delegation of 28 Chinese dignitaries are at the final round of the 2004 series, the BigPond Grand Finale at Eastern Creek Raceway, to confirm more details, present a marketing plan and hold discussions with V8 Supercar officials.
It has also been revealed that Queensland Premier Peter Beattie, Tasmanian Premier Paul Lennon and two senior Australian Government Ministers are likely to attend the event which represents a massive trade and economic opportunity for the country.
“Such is the importance of this event to the Governments of Australia and the relationship with China that the V8 Supercar Championship Series is becoming a flagship for our nation,” Australian Vee Eight Supercar Company (AVESCO) Chairman Tony Cochrane said today.
“We are looking forward to the challenge and the huge commitment we have made to this event. The opportunity this round presents for Australia is enormous.
“I am absolutely delighted with the level of co-operation from the promoter the Shanghai Greenland Group, the Federal Government, the Queensland Government, the Shanghai Mayor and the Motorsport fraternity of China.”
Vice-President of the Shanghai Greenland Sports & Culture Development Company Ltd, which is promoting the five-year Shanghai event, Mr. Zhang XinGuo, led the Chinese delegation to Australia.
“This event is warmly welcomed by the citizens of Shanghai,” Mr Zhang said.
“We will take the opportunity in Australia to communicate with the relevant parties and fell very grateful for the hospitality. The purpose it to watch the V8 Supercar event and learn the know how behind running a V8 Supercar event.
“This visit proves that the preparation for Shanghai is moving forward and we will ensure the successful delivery of the V8 Supercar round in Shanghai. It will be unforgettable.”
