CAMS making good progress on three-year strategic plan

11/1/2005 16:58 (Press Release) - The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport has released a progress report on the 2003-2005 CAMS Strategic Plan.

The booklet, which will be distributed to all CAMS affiliated clubs, CAMS Commission, Committee and Panel members, and various other stakeholders, is designed to keep the CAMS membership informed on the progress of the three-year plan.

CAMS President Colin Osborne said he was pleased with what had been achieved to date.

"The creation and implementation of a strategic plan is essential as it ensures a planned approach to managing motor sport in Australia.

"The current CAMS Strategic Plan has been carefully crafted to ensure the ongoing viability of CAMS as the peak motor sport regulator in Australia, and we are currently in a strong position with over half the plan complete and the consistent achievement of many of the performance targets."

"As a professional organisation that is internationally recognised as a world leader in regulation of motor sport, the strategic plan is the central driver for all of CAMS' major activities," said Osborne.

Dr Rob Nethercote, CAMS Chief Executive Officer said the approach to implementation has allowed CAMS to integrate the roll-out of key strategic initiatives into the day-to-day operations of CAMS.

"Ownership of the strategic priorities is at CAMS Board and Management level, with responsibility for each task assigned to members of the Administration; all strategic initiatives have well defined time and financial parameters.

"The fact that over half of this strategic plan has already been successfully executed, the best result of any strategic plan in CAMS'
history, demonstrates the commitment to the plan and the effectiveness of the implementation process that we have adopted," said Nethercote.

CAMS will continue with the current plan until the end of 2005. Prior to its conclusion CAMS will begin the development of a new Strategic Plan which will continue to foster the development of Australian motor sport and its regulatory mechanisms.

The strategic priorities of the CAMS' Strategic Plan reflect CAMS'
Mission, to promote and achieve safety, fairness and social responsibility in the conduct of the sport. The strategic priorities focus on:
* Motor Sport Structure and Regulation;
* Intellectual Property;
* Customer Service;
* Volunteers;
* Staff Performance;
* CAMS Structure;
* Communications;
* Financial Management;
* Risk Management; and
* Sports Development.
