11/1/2005 16:40 (Press Release) -
Marcos Ambrose has been named the CAMS Motor Sport Personality of the
Year at the 2004 Australian Motor Sport Awards, held by the
Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) in Melbourne this
evening.
The 2004 Australian Touring Car Champion and second time winner of the
Personality of the Year award was unable to attend the presentation but
guests were treated to a special acceptance speech by Ambrose that was
recorded at the final V8 Supercar round at Eastern Creek last weekend.
The evening also honoured the 2004 Australian Champions in their
respective motor sport categories, with the highlight being the
presentation of the Australian Drivers' Championship and the CAMS Gold
Star to Formula 4000 Champion, Neil McFadyen.
CAMS President, Colin Osborne, was thrilled with the success of the
night.
"What a spectacular way to end the 2004 motor sport season by paying
tribute to those drivers who have emerged victorious in their respective
categories after a highly competitive and entertaining season of
competition."
"I would like to congratulate all 2004 Australian Champions on their
efforts this year and look forward to another fantastic motor sport
season in 2005," Osborne concluded.
