Brad Jones Racing - Grand Finale
11/1/2005 16:24 (Press Release) -
Eastern Creek International Raceway
V8 Supercars Championship Rd 13 of 13
John Bowe - #12 OzEmail Ford Falcon
Finished R2: 15th Finished R3: 12th
With a car that just wasn’t working as well as it should have over the
weekend, Bowe managed to get a respectable result from the event. Race 2
saw him get off to a great start but he lost a couple of places during a
slightly bungled pit stop when the clutch slipped, creating the rear wheels
to spin whilst the car was jacked in the air. With the crew unable to get
the rattle gun on the nut, precious seconds crept by. Bowe continued to
fight hard during the race, clawing his way back from 28th to finish in 15th
position. Race 3 was the opposite, with the team giving him a lightning pit
stop on lap three. As the dust started to settle after the pit lane action,
Bowe was positioned inside the top eight. On lap 30, he was still holding
onto 9th place but was about to face an uphill battle over the next six laps
with badly worn tyres. He was forced to concede a couple of places, coming
home in 12th place and in doing so wrapping up a fantastic 9th position in
the 2004 championship standings.
John Bowe
“From an engineering point of view it was a tough weekend. On new tyres,
our cars were as quick as anyone but we suffered with really poor tyre wear
and as soon as we lost the traction, they were almost impossible to drive.
Obviously the highlight was getting enough points to stay in the top ten for
the season. It’s a great result for the team and well deserved and now it’s
time to do some development over the off-season and come back bigger and
better next year.”

Brad Jones - #21 OzEmail Ford Falcon
Finished R2: 19th Finished R3: 14th
2004 will go down as one of Brad Jones’ unluckiest. Throughout the year it
seemed that every time he had the chance for a great result, some sort of
voodoo would strike. Race 2 was no different. Sitting in fourth position
after an amazingly fast pit stop and some solid lap times, Jones was given a
drive through penalty for a pit lane infringement. This cruel blow ruined
any chances of a respectable result. Determined to make amends in the last
race of the year, Jones was on a charge throughout race three. Dropping one
position to 20th at the start, his crew gave him exactly what was required,
another fast tyre change on lap six. On lap ten, he set the fastest lap of
the race, proving that the OzEmail Falcon was quick on good tyres. He
weaved his way up the ladder, finishing in a credible 14th position and
grabbing 16th position in the 2004 standings.
Brad Jones
“Both of our cars had the same problem, quick on new tyres and pigs to drive
once the tyres had gone off. It should have been a better result for me but
the drive through put paid to that. It’s been a long hard season, I’m
looking forward to doing some more work on the cars over the summer and
recharging the batteries for 2005.
