Strong Start for 2004 Grand Finale
11/1/2005 15:58 (Press Release) -
Race 1 of the Bigpond Grand Finale held mixed results for Team Betta Electrical. After placing 7th and 8th respectively in the Shootout, Max Wilson and Paul Radisich both made their way cleanly through the chaos of the first two corners of lap one caused by the Holden Racing Team vying for a lead position.
However, Wilson was penalised for a jump start and had to take a drive through penalty on the second lap, which put him to the back of the field. While disappointing, Wilson worked hard throughout the race to improve his position finishing twenty second.
Meanwhile Radisich’s staying power kept him within the leading pack. Radisich held sixth place from lap 13 onwards and was consistently a mere tenth of a second from fifth place.
“Getting ahead of Ingall and the SBR car was always going to be a hard race to drive. But finishing sixth, up from eight, gives me a great start for tomorrow,” said Radisich after Race One.
Roland Dane, Managing Director of Triple Eight Race Engineering, felt positive about the results from Race One. “We had some good qualifying times today that have allowed Paul to stay up with the lead bunch and resulted in him scoring sixth position to start in on Sunday’s second race.
“The Team are looking forward to a good day tomorrow and hoping to finish the season on a high note.”
