Making a stand at the Creek
3/12/2004 18:19 (Press Release) -
Team Dynamik takes to Eastern Creek Raceway this weekend with one mission: to convert car speed into a top three V8 Supercar result. Driver Simon Wills, piloting the Dodo Racing car 44 for Team Dynamik, said 2004 had been a frustrating year for the South Australian outfit.
“We know behind the scenes that our cars have plenty of potential and pace. But the public understandably sees podium results as the measure of success.
“At the last two rounds at the Indy and Symmons Plains we showed really good pace. Now we have to start translating car speed into results.”
Finding the key to Turn 10, the right-hand hairpin in the middle of the 3.93km Eastern Creek Raceway, will be vital to the Team’s chances at this weekend’s final round for 2004.
In three previous visits to Eastern Creek the Team has logged plenty of data but hasn’t managed to crack the right set-up for this highly technical section of track.
“Last time we qualified 8th fastest here so if we can master the hairpin then we should be even quicker,” Wills said.
Dale Brede, driving the Dodo Racing car #45, tackles Eastern Creek with solid results here in past races.
He finished sixth in a Konica round here in 2003, and 27th in his first Supercar round at the track in March.
In a first, South Australian V8 Supercar fans will see the two Dodo Racing cars on primetime television, with Saturday’s twilight race being telecast live on Ten during the peak viewing hours from 6pm to 7.30pm.
The Team’s appeal last week to the International Motorsport Court of Appeal has stayed the CAMS penalties for alleged testing breaches, until the case is heard. The Team’s two cars will start this Round’s races as normal.
Practice sessions on Friday are followed by qualifying, the Top Ten Shootout and a twilight race on Saturday. Two races will follow on Sunday.
