Inside Sport covergirl favourite for Bartercard Miss V8 Supergirl title

3/12/2004 18:16 (Press Release) - Watch this face, it’s going places faster than a hot lap in a V8 Supercar. At just 19, commerce student Kyra Miller knows how to juggle study and the quickly increasing demands of magazines wanting to splash her smile and statuesque frame across glossy pages.

The Inside Sport cover girl, from Oyster Bay in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, was granted a wildcard to the Bartercard V8Super Girl grand final at Penrith Leagues Club on December 2.

Kyra will then strut her stuff at the BigPond Finale of the V8 Supercar round at Eastern Creek Raceway from December 3-5

“It has been so much fun to get to this stage,” said Kyra.

“The last two races I have been on the starting line working for Big Pond, and at Eastern Creek, I actually jumped the fence to get off the track in time. It’s very exciting.”

The state netballer and national athletic hurdler, juggles a hectic lifestyle incorporating sport, modelling and her studies at Sydney University.

“I concentrate mostly on my studies, but make time for everything else too,” said Kyra.

“I like to be busy, there’s nothing worse than sitting around. In the next few weeks I have state league netball trials, loads of homework and the Bartercard V8Super Girl competition.’’

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Lynne Heming from St Clair in Sydney’s west will be another vying for the top gong.

Lynne is a cheerleader with the Parramatta Rugby League reserve grade side and has made it through a series of heats which included interview, swimwear and photographic judging.

“I’m really looking forward to it, it’s my first major modelling competition,” said the 2003 ‘Face of Sydney’ winner.

“To win this would be like a Jennifer Hawkins moment and to be in such elite company while representing Australia and the V8 Supercar Series would be an amazing experience.’’

From November 28, Kyra and Lynne will team up with 34 other stunning hopefuls in Sydney for seven arduous days that will feature rehearsals, appearances and official on and off-track duties that are a part and parcel of the trans-Tasman grid girl competition.

The winner of the 2004 Bartercard V8Super Girl will be revealed at a gala event at Penrith Panthers on Thursday 2nd December

The 2004 Batercard V8Super Girl will receive prizes to the tune of $20,000 and become the face of the V8 Supercar Series in 2005.
