RUSSELL INGALL TO HAVE FACE LIFT THIS WEEKEND

Russell Ingall’s Caltex Ford will have a “face lift” for this weekend’s final round of the V8 Supercar Championship series at Eastern Creek in Sydney.
Ingall will swap the regular number 9 on his BA Falcon for number 98 as part of Caltex’s roll out of its new Vortex 98 premium fuel which is now available at 40 outlets throughout Sydney - and growing over coming months.
Ingall is currently fourth in the championship, but has a big chance of finishing second in the series if he can produce some major results from the weekend’s three races.
Ingall’s Stone Brothers Racing team mate Marcos Ambrose is in a strong position to take out his second title in two years in his Pirtek Falcon which uses Caltex Havoline engine oil.
Stone Brothers Racing has been given permission to use number 98 by regular Konica Minolta team owner Robert Tebb, who is obviously not running this weekend in his Sydney Star-backed Supercar.
Ingall will return to his regular number next season.
Ironically, Ingall’s number before joining Stone Brothers Racing at the start of last year was 8 – so this weekend he is putting together the only two numbers he has had in the category on the one car.
“I am not that superstitious so having a different number does not really have any effect on me this weekend,” said Ingall.
“I think it is great that Robert Tebb has given us use of his number to help promote the new Vortex 98 premium fuel.
“The number is just one of several things Caltex has planned this weekend and hopefully I can cap off all the work with an outright win on Sunday.”
Vortex fuel signage replaced Havoline oil signage on the side of Ingall’s Ford at Bathurst in October, but this weekend will be the first time that the car will be branded with specific Vortex 98 livery.
Vortex 98 offers all the benefits of the existing Vortex premium unleaded fuel, combined with a higher octane rating designed to make the most of the latest developments in engine technology.
Vortex 98, like the existing Vortex premium unleaded, is designed to clean up deposits in car engines in order to improve combustion efficiency and restore lost power, acceleration and smoothness.
But some high performance vehicles with high-compression or turbo-charged engines are now manufactured to run solely on the higher octane premium fuel and Vortex 98 meets these specific needs.
Silver and red Vortex 98 signs will flag the availability of the new high octane premium unleaded fuel at local Caltex service stations and Ingall will be in Sydney on Thursday to help finish off a couple of the new-look sites.
