BigPond zooms V8 Supercar vibe to the NSW Central Coast

The Central Coast of NSW is about to embrace a slice of V8 Supercar fever when BigPond powers into town with an awesome four-day event to celebrate the final round of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship Series at Eastern Creek next weekend.
V8 mania will pull into Tuggerah Westfield from November 25-28 with a full display and autograph signings from some of the stars of the V8 Supercar Series.
WPS driver and Gold Coast Indy Champ Car rookie, David Besnard, will join Owen Kelly, Jason Richards, Max Wilson and Warren Luff for four days of V8-styled fun.
Besnard, who finished an impressive 7th after his debut Champ Car race on the Gold Coast last month, and won a contentious last race at Tasmania during the last round, is excited about bringing the buzz off V8 racing to the Central Coast.
“I love the Central Coast, it’s a beautiful part of the world,” said Besnard.
“Unfortunately we don’t race there, so it will be great to take a component of the series into these communities. It’s a great opportunity to get up close to the drivers, ask questions and show their support. The Central Coast is a passionate rugby league community and with the footy over for the year, we are hoping that sports fans will come down and get amongst the action.’’
Besnard said the BigPond V8 Supercar display also provided a platform for the drivers to say thankyou to their supporters, be it fans of the blue oval or the rampaging lion.
“It was incredible to see all the support I got when I raced at Indy, so this is a great opportunity to meet some of those people and say thanks,” said Besnard.
“We are also coming off a belated win at Tasmania in the last race which is fantastic in our (WPS) debut year. It sets us up well for not only next year, but for a big finish at the final round at Eastern Creek.”
Ford SBR star Marcos Ambrose will feel the pressure as he battles to secure his second successive V8 Supercar title from closest opponent Greg Murphy during the riveting Big Pond Finale. Ambrose leads Murphy by 157 points on 1982 and needs to finish 12th or better in the first race to clinch the title.
