This is the seventh time Lakeisde Raceway has played host to a V8Supercar meeting, the previous 6 meetings all being Shell Rounds. The previous winners were Alan Jones (1993), Larry Perkins (1994), Glenn Seton (1995), Craig Lowndes (1996), John Bowe (1997) and Russell Ingall (1998).
The individual heats have been won by Craig Lowndes (3), John Bowe (3), Russell Ingall (3), Dick Johnson (2), Glenn Seton (2), Alan Jones and Larry Perkins. The dashes have been won by Alan Jones, Glenn Seton, Larry Perkins, Greg Crick, Trevor Ashby and Kevin Heffernan.
Ford have won 8 races at Lakeside compared to Holden's 7.
Glenn Seton currently holds the lap record at 51.4452 and was set in 1997.

The only drivers with previous V8Supercar experience at Lakeside are Neil Schembri, Richard Mork and Ryan McLeod. Daniel Natoli has raced his V8Supercar at this circuit before in Sports Sedans. Craig Harris, Mal Rose, Dean Canto, David Besnard and Wayne Wakefield have all driven the circuit before in other categories.
The most experienced driver present in the entry list is Mal Rose with 51 race starts. The only other drivers with more than 20 race starts in V8Supercar are Neil Schembri (47), Richard Mork (37), Wayne Wakefield (26), Bill Attard (25) and Ryan McLeod (21).
