Tasmania Triple Challenge
Symmons Plains International Raceway
V8 Supercars Championship Rd 12 of 13
John Bowe - #12 OzEmail Ford Falcon
Finished: 13th Overall: 14th C/Ship Points: 110
C/Ship Standing: 8th
After a dismal start to the event, Bowe has bounced back in all three races
to finish inside the top 14 for the event. A 17th place in yesterday’s
opening encounter and a 14th and 13th respectively in today’s races has
somewhat made amends for his poor qualifying performance caused by a shock
absorber problem. Oil spewing from Ambrose’s car created major issues for
Bowe in the last race, when his vision was drastically reduced with a
smeared windscreen. Bowe also suffered a ‘soft’ brake pedal in the last
race, which hindered any major progress but he consolidated to gain
championship points. Bowe regained 8th place in the standings.
John Bowe
“I guess I can’t complain. On Friday I didn’t expect to be in this sort of
position after the dramas of qualifying. Even with finding the gas problem
with the shock, there was something fundamentally wrong with my car this
weekend. At no stage did I feel comfortable with it, so we are going to
have to look at it serious before we come back here next year. I was really
struggling in the last race with the smeared windscreen and virtually no
feel in my brake pedal. This is a respectable result though considering
everything that has happened.”

Brad Jones - #21 OzEmail Ford Falcon
Finished: 23rd Overall: 15th C/Ship Points: 110
C/Ship Standing: 15th
Jones capitalised on his sturdy performance from yesterday where he finished
12th in the opening race, to grab a well deserved 9th position in race two.
Sitting inside the top seven cars overall going into the last race, it all
came unstuck when his front suspension collapsed on the last lap of the
race. His only fortune being that he was able to cross the line to be
classified as a finisher. The failure was caused by a ‘coming-together’
with Paul Dumbrell on the exit of the Hairpin. Jones dropped out of the ten
to finish the round in 15th position.
Brad Jones
“Race three was a real disappointment. We were going so well up until that
point. When I came out of my pit stop in the last race, I had some problem
with my brakes and I kept locking the front wheels. That pushed me back a
few positions, then Bargwanna turned me around and the final blow was when
Dumbrell tried to run me off the track on the last lap, which broke the
front suspension. Just like John [Bowe], we have really struggled with car
setup all weekend, the characteristics of our cars aren’t suited to this
circuit. We’re starting to climb our way back up the championship ladder
though, which is one positive we can take away.”
