Major sponsor announced for Inaugural Tasmania Triple Challenge

26/11/2004 22:01 (Press Release) - AVESCO Events today announced an agreement with Carlton & United Beverages that will see the multi-beverage business’s Cougar Bourbon promoted as major sponsor of the inaugural Tasmanian Triple Challenge V8 Supercar event.

The Tasmanian Triple Challenge presented by Cougar will be held at Symmons Plains November 12 -14 and is the penultimate round of the 2004 V8 Supercar Championship Series.

As part of the new agreement the prominent over track pedestrian bridge will be renamed the Cougar Bourbon Bridge.

CUB product will feature exclusively within the eight specially constructed on-track bars and throughout all corporate suites. CUB’s Tasmanian business, Cascade will continue to bring to life the Cougar experience at the track and throughout Tasmania.

AVESCO Chairman Tony Cochrane said it was great to see Carlton & United Beverages extending their support of the V8 Supercars.

“Carlton & United Beverages are a fantastic partner of the V8 Supercar Championship Series,” Cochrane said “It is great to see they are now extending their series support to provide major sponsorship for the Tasmanian Triple Challenge.

“The involvement of Carlton & United Beverages is a huge coup for what is shaping up to be a very exciting event.

Carlton & United Beverages National Sales Director Geoff Jones said, “Cougar is all about having a good time with your mates and the essence of the Supercar Championship Series is similar, this sponsorship is an ideal opportunity to bring two great brands together in support of each other.

“Cougar has been riding the wave of an exciting time lately with new product extensions and a humorous advertising campaign in the market place. Becoming the major sponsor of the Tasmanian Triple Challenge is another way to create a great opportunity to enjoy a Cougar and good times”.

All eyes will be on The Tasmanian Triple Challenge presented by Cougar as series leader Marcos Ambrose aims to clinch the 2004 title in front of a hometown crowd.

There are 192 points up for grabs and Ambrose currently commands a 166 point lead ahead of nearest rival, Holden driver Jason Bright.
