ORRCON RACING SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR CANTEEN

Orrcon Racing V8 Supercar drivers Jason Bargwanna and Mark Winterbottom have traded their race helmets for Bandanna’s in support of CanTeen’s 10th annual National Bandanna day tomorrow, Friday October 29.
CanTeen is the Australian organisation for Young People Living with Cancer offering a national support network for individuals aged 12-24 who have, in some way, been affected by the illness. The program caters to Patients, Siblings and Offspring.
Bargwanna, a father of two young boys himself, appreciates what a devastating effect the illness must have on all family members and is happy to show his support of CanTeen through National Bandanna Day.
“As a father my boys mean the world to me and I know every family would be the same,” said Bargwanna.
“To see your child battling against cancer would have to be one of the hardest things to deal with, CanTeen does a fantastic job in providing support to the kids and their families to make life easier when going through the tough times.
“Last Thursday we visited a group of kids who were at Indy, it was here where I had seen first hand what a great job CanTeen does. Everyone was so excited to be there and showed so much support for each other in the challenges that they face in life.
“I hope to see everyone wearing a bandana tomorrow to create awareness and raise money to ensure that CanTeen can continue to provide the support to the families who need it most.”
Last year Winterbottom helped one CanTeen patient, Grant Hamilton live out a life long dream by taking him for a ride in his Orrcon Racing V8 Supercar around Queensland Raceway.
Unfortunately Grant lost his battle against cancer earlier this year but the beaming smile that he showed after his ride will stay in Winterbottom’s memory for a long time to come.
“It certainly brings a new respect from me on my life and how you should always take full advantage of every opportunity,” said the 23-year-old.
“CanTeen does a great job with the kids and everyone there has a positive outlook on life, something that I believe everyone can take notice of.”
