This is the ninth time Oran Park Raceway has played host to a V8Supercar meeting, the previous eight meetings being seven Shell Series Rounds and a round of the new Konica Lites series this year. The Shell rounds were won by Jim Richards (1993), Glenn Seton (1994), John Bowe (1995), Peter Brock (1996), Greg Murphy (1997), Craig Lowndes (1998) and Mark Skaife (1999). The Konica round earlier this year was won by Dean Canto.
The individual racess have been won by Peter Brock (5), Craig Lowndes (3), Glenn Seton (3), Mark Skaife (3), John Bowe (2), Dean Canto (2), Jim Richards, Alan Jones & Matthew White. The dashes have been won by Peter Brock, Glenn Seton, Mark Skaife, John Trimbole, John Faulkner, Trevor Ashby and Cameron McLean.
Holden have won 13 V8Supercar races at Oran Park compared to Ford's 8.
Russell Ingall currently holds the lap record at 1:24.0045 and was set in 1997. The lap record on the shorter circuit is 1:00.2870 and was set by Glenn Seton in 1995.
Holdens outnumber Fords in the entry 22-14.
Making their Oran Park V8Supercar debuts are Craig Baird, Todd Kelly, Brad Jones, Rick Bates and Cameron McConville. John Bowe, Larry Perkins and Glenn Seton are the only drivers to have started all seven previous Oran Park Shell V8 Rounds.
Glenn Seton has scored the most points at Oran Park (345) well ahead of Mark Skaife (300). Russell Ingall has never finished above 5th in a V8Supercar race at Oran Park, in four round attempts.
The most experienced driver present in the entry list is Glenn Seton with 258 race starts. The least experienced is Rick Bates, who's first three starts came at Winton a fortnight ago.
There are some very significant milestones this weekend, including:
· Race 3 will be the 300th race involving V8Supercars.
· Race number 1 was the 1992 Sandown 500, in which the V8Supercar class was won by Tomas Mezera and Brad Jones (3rd overall).
· Race number 50 was race 1 of the 1994 Lakeside ATCC round, won by Dick Johnson.
· Race number 100 was race 3 of the 1996 Sandown ATCC round, won by Glenn Seton.
· Race number 150 was the corresponding race at Sandown in 1997, again won by Seton.
· Race number 200 was race 2 of the Phillip Island ATCC round in 1998, won by Craig Lowndes.
· Race number 250 was race 1 of the Symmons Plains meeting in 1999, won by Greg Murphy.
· Race 1 should be Larry Perkins' 250th V8Supercar race start.
· Race 1 should be John Bowe's 250th V8Supercar race start.
The only other driver in V8Supercar's '250 Club' is Glenn Seton with 258 starts to his credit. Mark Skaife is next on 233 starts which if he starts every race, will see him join the '250 Club' at the second round of the 2001 Shell series.
· Craig Lowndes needs one race win to be the first driver to achieve 50 V8Supercar Shell Series race wins.
· This is Mark Skaife 75th Shell series V8Supercar round.
· This is Cameron McConville's 25th V8Supercar meeting.
· Race 2 should be Glenn Seton's 200th Shell series V8Supercar start.
· Race 2 should be Trevor Ashby's 100th Shell series V8Supercar start.
· Race 1 will be Jason Bargwanna's 100th V8Supercar race start.
· Race 3 should be Mick Donaher's 50th Shell series V8Supercar start.
· Race 2 should be Paul Morris' 50th V8Supercar race start.
· Race 2 should be Brad Jones' 25th Shell series V8Supercar start.
· Race 3 should be Craig Baird's 25th Shell series V8Supercar start.
· Race 3 should be Todd Kelly's 25th Shell series V8Supercar start.

Previous Event Review - Winton
Jason Bargwanna's win at Winton was his second career event win, the first being the 1999 Winton Shell Round. Garth Tander's Race 1 win was his 4th V8Supercar race win. Glenn Seton's Race 2 win was his 41st V8Supercar race win. Only Craig Lowndes (54) has won more race victories. Next highest number of race wins is Mark Skaife with 36. Jason Bargwanna's Race 3 win was his 5th V8Supercar race win.
Craig Lowndes (4047 points) became the fourth driver to top 4000 Shell Series V8Supercar points at Winton after Glenn Seton (4812), Mark Skaife (4202) and Russell Ingall (4063). John Bowe is next on 3737 points.
Over the history of V8Supercar, Holden has won 82 events compared to Fords 43. A new record of 16 consecutive wins for a manufacturer in the Shell Series was established at Winton.
