Team Dynamik prepare for Gillette V8 Supercar Challenge
9/11/2004 18:22 (Press Release) -
South Australian V8 Supercar outfit Team Dynamik has been working feverishly on fine-tuning the two Dodo Internet cars #44 and #45 for the demands of the Indy, ironing out creases in the VY Commodores after the bumps of Bathurst.
Drivers Simon Wills and Dale Brede move back into a sprint race frame of mind for Round 11 following the enduros.
Wills’ qualifying results have tailed off in recent rounds but he was confident of finding the set-up speed that has launched him into four Top Ten shootouts this year.
“With the pit stops ruled out it means that we can rule out strategy and concentrate totally on getting good car speed,” he said today.
Last year Wills placed inside the top 4 fastest cars in both Indy practice sessions and only a brake pedal glitch in qualifying kept him out of the Top 10.
“The car was very good here last year, and I think we can translate that result to this year,” he said.
“Street circuits are my favourite type of track and I really enjoy racing here.”
Dale Brede, driving the Dodo Internet car #45, was looking forward to his first ever Indy.
“It looks a very technical track at first glance,” he said. “Both of these races are so short that you have to attack at every opportunity. We’ll be concentrating on attacking hard in qualifying so we are set up well for the racing.”
Practice and qualifying will be held tomorrow, while Race 1 on Saturday starts at 3.50pm, and Sunday’s Race 2 starts at 12noon.
