Dynamik fine tunes for classic

10/10/2004 7:27 (Press Release) - Preparing two V8 Supercars to complete 161 laps at maximum speed was the priority for South Australia’s Team Dynamik in today's fifth and final practice for the Bathurst 1000.

The two VY Commodores ran at stages with low fuel, old tyres, new tyres, full tanks, different drivers and suspension tweaks in a bid to fine-tune set-up for tomorrow's gruelling enduro.

Dale Brede and Will Davison, driving the Team Dynamik Dodo Internet car #45, have followed their pre-race strategy right to plan.

"We've achieved all of our weekend goals so far," said Davison.

"We've just been cruising around not doing anything silly and setting the car up for the race," said Davison. "The car feels pretty easy to drive ... we're creeping up on it," he said.

Car #45's best practice time today - 2:11.0544 - was with Davison at the wheel, but with a light fuel load. Brede later completed eight laps with full tanks on older tyres, all in a bid to adjust some suspension settings for the race.

Brede said it fits in with the pair's race plan: "At this stage, all we want is an undamaged car and competitive times. That puts us in a good position to do well in the race," he said. The Dodo Internet #45 will start from 25th on the grid tomorrow.

Simon Wills and Paul Stokell, driving the Dodo Internet car #44, have had a more challenging lead-in.

A spinning Ford backed into Stokell in yesterday's first practice, curtailing Stokell's track time and scrambling the pit crew. While the damage was only cosmetic it upset qualifying plans, and Wills and Stokell will start from 19th in tomorrow's race.

Car #44's best time today - 2:10.2057 - was clocked by Wills on his last flying lap, and suggests he is starting to wring some real speed out of the Dodo Internet VY.

Stokell clocked some valuable track time earlier in the session, after yesterday's accident. "I've managed to get 20 or so laps in so far," he said.

"The car feels pretty good ... we ran on full tanks early on and it was quite good across the top of the mountain."

Tomorrow's race starts at 10am. Fans can follow Team Dynamik’s lap by lap progress online at www.teamdynamik.com
