Paul Cruickshank Racing celebrate two Top Ten positions

The Paul Cruickshank Racing team are celebrating top ten positions in two categories on day two at the Bob Jane Tmarts 1000. PCR/Actron Air Racing’s Kevin Mundy has qualified tenth for tomorrows twenty-five lap Konica Minolta Challenge while Jonathan Webb has finished third in the first of three Carrera Cup races.
Mundy who is competing in his final event for the Gold Coast based team will start the race from row five on the grid while team mate Zukanovic will start eleventh off row six.
Unable to get a clear run in the first part of the session Mundy’s PCR/Actron Air Ford Falcon AU developed a gearbox problem towards the end of the session.
“I was a bit disappointed with my qualifying position I know I was capable of finishing in the top five,” Mundy said.
“By the time I was able to get a clear run the gearbox was starting to play up so I thought it best to try and play it a bit safe.
“It is a long race for us tomorrow and anything can happen I am confident I will be able to gain a few spots.
Mundy’s team mate Marcus Zukanovic was pleased with his grid spot for his first ever race at Mount Panorama.
“I was quite happy to settle for eleventh today,” Zukanovic said. “I need to get maximum miles here this year to give myself a good experience for next years championship round.
“I am conscious of how unforgiving this circuit is and I really hope I can do a good job tomorrow.
Carrera Cup campaigner Jonathan Webb who finished race one third behind Alex Davison and Fabian Coulthard said he will be chasing another top three placing in tomorrows eight lap race.
“The car great today and I had an absolute ball out there,” Webb said.
“I will be focusing on improving my start for tomorrow’s race and who knows maybe I might gain a spot.
“I am currently sixth in the championship I would really like to move into the top five this weekend,” Webb added.
