Chance of a Lifetime races forward in Queensland

8/10/2004 22:17 (Press Release) - The 2004 Chance of a Lifetime, Australia’s richest motorsport talent search has roared into action with the opening heats at Queensland Raceway last week.

Queensland played host to the opening round of the competition with entrants vying for more than $500,000 worth of prizes with heats scheduled at a variety of venues across the country.

Entrants competed across three categories with the novice section battling for a seat in the 2005 MoPro Cup, the intermediate section looking at the 2005 Aussie Racing Car Championship and the expert division aiming for the mouth watering prospect of a drive in the 2005 Kumho Tyres Lotus Trophy and then the 2006 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Championship.

A total of 66 drivers took to the track competing against both the clock and each other in a competition was always close and intense with only tenths of a second splitting many of the competitors in each section.

Following three hectic days of lightning quick and highly competitive driving ten entrants have qualified to move forward to the final stage to be held at Sydney’s Oran Park in January.

They were spread across the categories with five progressing from the novice section, three from the intermediate and two moving forward from the advanced segment.

“Queensland Raceway heralded in a new era for the Chance of a Lifetime competition and after giving 66 hopefuls the chance to showcase their skills we are very happy with the success so far,” said Michael Goode from MoPro Australia.

“With this years competition set to hit another four states before reaching the finals more drivers than ever before will be getting the chance to give their motorsport careers a real kick-start.”

The next stop for the 2004 Chance of a Lifetime competition is Winton Motor Raceway with the round set to take place on the 11th and 12th of October, with positions filling up fast for both days.
