Caltex Racing changes branding for Bathurst

8/10/2004 22:04 (Press Release) - Fans of the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 will not be seeing things when Russell Ingall’s Caltex Racing Falcon is rolled out of the garage for the first time at Bathurst’s Mt Panorama on Thursday.

The Ford, which has helped Ingall into fifth place in this year’s championship and to second in last month’s Betta Electrical Sandown 500 in Melbourne, has had a face-lift.

Gone is the Havoline branding on the side of the car and in comes new signage associated with Caltex’s Vortex premium fuel.

The new branding will stay in place for the remaining three races of the V8 Supercar Championship Series and will be built into the livery for the 2005 season.

The new-look Falcon will be driven by Ingall and his co-driver Cameron McLean for the first time in opening practice at Bathurst on Thursday at 11am.

“They say a change is as good as a holiday,” said Ingall.

“I think the car looks great with the new Vortex branding. Caltex are currently advertising Vortex through a television and billboard campaign and billboards don’t come much faster than this.

“It would be great if we could give the new-look car the publicity it deserves by winning up there next week.

“After our showing at Sandown I think we have a reasonable chance.”

Caltex’s Brand Manager Fuels and Lubricants, Steve Wruck, says that the change in Ingall’s car for Bathurst has been planned for sometime.

“Vortex is premium petrol formulated to look after your car and if there is one car we really want to look after it‘s Russell’s Falcon,” said Wruck.

“Fans of V8 Supercars understand the value of premium fuel and that is just one of the reasons we are involved with this growing category of motorsport.

“Bathurst is the highest profile of all the V8 Supercar events, so it made sense for us to support our current Vortex advertising campaign with signage on Russell’s car.

“We believe Vortex is the leading premium fuel and we hope Russell and Cameron (McLean) are leading after 161 laps next Sunday.”

It is the second time the Ford’s livery has changed this year.

The Havoline branding was replaced by “Star Day” livery for the New Zealand round earlier this year to promote the Starlight Children’s Foundation of which Caltex is a major supporter.

Ingall also became heavily involved with the Starlight promotions and donated one of his racing helmets which raised $8000.
