ULTIMATE ENTERTAINMENT AT BOB JANE T-MARTS 1000

28/9/2004 18:55 (Press Release) - Delivering on the expectation of a total entertainment package, organisers of the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 have assured patrons there’ll be no shortage of rubber burning antics and aerial acrobatics during this year’s ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN.

Headlining a quality line-up of on-track entertainment on October 7-10 at Bathurst’s Mount Panorama circuit will be the Metric Productions Extreme Motocross show.

The team will showcase the best of Australia’s freestyle motocross talent and having already made their presence felt at Bathurst are assured of tremendous support over the four-day carnival.

“We first appeared at Bathurst in 2002 and are always experimenting to ensure we can provide something new and exciting each year,” said Team Spokesperson Paul Holden.

“Performing at Bathurst is always enjoyable, the crowd really love their motor sport and every year the energy and overall feedback we get seems to push the boys to ride to the limit.

“Our riders utilise purpose built, fully portable Freestyle motocross take-off ramps and landing track.

“This enables them to give the Bathurst audience an unrivalled perspective of the spectacular, high energy sport provided by the Metric Productions team.”

Such has been the popularity of the Extreme Motocross show, Metric Productions will also feature as part of the ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN off-track entertainment.

Their legion of fans can also sample an extensive array of merchandise at the Metric Clothing booth where there will also be regular rider signing sessions giving everyone a chance to meet the riders in person.

Meantime, as the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 continues the tradition of hosting the numerous legends of Australian motorsport, this will continue to be reflected in the 2004 on-track program.

The Peter Brock of the drag racing scene Victor Bray will once again unleash his 3200 horsepower, 1957 Chevrolet burnout car on the numerous kerbs and straights of Mount Panorama.

His show at the ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN will be supported by an engine modified SS Commodore Ute to be driven by son Ben.

Between them the Bray’s have become notable celebrities in their chosen motorsports field.

Victor holds the current World speed record in the Top Doorslammer bracket, while Ben became the World’s youngest professional category winner when he claimed the Australian Championship in 2002 at just 19 years of age.

“The Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 is about providing an International class motorsports entertainment package and so we are always looking to employ the hottest acts in Australia,” said IMG Director of Motorsport James O’Brien.

“This year there’s no doubting the class of the on-track entertainment and while the Extreme Motocross and Victor Bray shows are sure to be well received there’s also plenty of other attractions.

“The Donut King Stunt Team of Matt Mingay and Robbie Bolger also enjoy a genuine cult following and their mix of aerial stunts and burnout shows will keep patrons on the edge of their seats.

“There’s no doubting the spectacle of the VB Challenge as a regular fixture of V8 Supercar Events and with the top Ford and Holden drivers going head-to-head there’s bound to be plenty of feeling in these high powered duels.”

Providing a touch of grandeur to the occasion the Drivers Parade Lap will have all 70 ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN competitors ushered around Bathurst’s 6.21 kilometre circuit, in a spectacular cavalcade of masterfully restored Corvettes and late model Ford Utes.

For the 42nd occasion of the Bob Jane T-Marts 1000 the entire Event is expected to be witnessed by an anticipated record crowd.

Only today a third extension of 63 seats has been incorporated as part of the Bob Jane T-Mart grandstand, bringing its overall capacity to an amazing 683 seats.

General ticket sales are expected to pick up as the Event draws closer yet still remain 20% above projections based on last year’s sales.

Add to the equation an unprecedented response to pre-sales of camp sites and the 2004 ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN is shaping as the biggest and best ever.
