VESRIX Statistical Preview - Ipswich

28/6/2000 22:38 (Shane Rogers) - Statistics for Round 7 of the 2000 Shell Championship Series, Queensland Raceway, Queensland.

This will be the third time the Shell Series has visited Queensland Raceway. Last year’s triple sprint round was won by Garth Tander. The three heats were won by Russell Ingall, Craig Lowndes and John Bowe. Rodney Forbes won the dash. Russell Ingall and Larry Perkins won the Queensland 500, also a Shell Series event.

Holdens outnumber Fords in the entry 22-15.

The most experienced driver present in the entry list is Glenn Seton with 252 race starts. The7 least experienced is Tyler Mecklem who is making his V8Supercar debut. Mecklem will be the 232nd driver to participate in V8Supercar competition. Rod Nash, John Cotter, Peter Gazzard and Brett Peters are having their first V8Supercar meetings of 2000.

Peter Gazzard and Tyler Mecklem are having their first meeting at Queensland Raceway in V8Supercar.

In Milestones this event:
* Race 2 should be Paul Romano's 150th V8Supercar race start. His best race finishes have been 4th's at Hidden Valley and Oran Park in 1998.
* Race 2 should be Alan Heath's 20th V8Supercar race start.
* This is John Cotter's 20th V8Supercar meeting.
* This is Alan Heath's 10th V8Supercar meeting.
* This is Russell Ingall's and Paul Romano's 50th V8Supercar Shell Series meeting.
* This is Paul Radisich's, Steven Johnson's and Rodney Forbes' 20th Shell Series meetings.
* Neil Crompton will pass Alan Jones for 7th place on the ranking of all time number of V8Supercar race starts in race 1. Crompton and Jones are locked on 182 starts each. Crompton has the most number of V8Supercar race starts without a win on 182, followed by Romano 148, Faulkner 146, Ellery 136, and Mezera 129.

V8Supercar Birthdays near the Queensland Raceway weekend:
* Endurance co-driver Kevin Burton turns 39 on Friday June 30th.
* Former 500cc Grand Prix motorcycle racer, Graeme Crosby turns 45 on Tuesday 4th July.
* Truck Racer, Bill Sieders, turns 45 on Tuesday 4th July.

Development of VESRIX version 1.5, is now 80 percent complete, and is due for public release around July 5. Included in this update to the web site will be a listing of the finishing order of every V8Supercar race, event, dash and qualifying shootout. This will be complimented with a search engine that will allow the user to find a result by circuit, championship status, type of competition and/or date.

Additional enhancements to the driver listings are being made in response to comments from site visitors.
