Sirromet Wines offers great competition prizes to attend Lexmark Indy 300

18/9/2004 17:58 (Press Release) - Sirromet Wines, who sponsor Queensland driver Paul Morris in V8 Supercars, have launched a competition offering prizes valued at $2,139 to attend next month's Lexmark Indy 300 motor race on the Gold Coast.

The competition, titled the 'Lexmark Indy 300 Weekend Package', is open to those purchasing bottles of Sirromet wine until October 15. Prizes include general admission tickets to Queensland's biggest sporting event, plus accommodation, entertainment and fine dining, and merchandise.

The Lexmark Indy 300 will be held from October 21-24 and will feature the international Champ Car World Series race, and round 11 of the V8 Supercar Championship where Morris will be among the starters in his Sirromet Wines VY Commodore.

Sirromet, located at Mount Cotton between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, launched its competition on September 1 and entries close on October 15. The winner will be notified on October 19.

Entry forms with full terms and conditions are on official necktags of bottles of Sirromet wines in approximately 600 bottle shops and liquor outlets in south-east Queensland, including BWS, The Fridge, Giants Liquor, Champion Liquor, Bottlemart, and Liquor King.

Prizes offered to the winner are:

1. 2 general admission tickets to Lexmark Indy 300 for October 23-24 (value $220)
2. 3 nights accommodation at Sea World Nara Resort October 22-24 (value $900)
3. Midnight Magic show and dinner for two at Conrad Jupiters, limousine transfers October 23 (value $422)
4. Sirromet Hot Air Balloon ride for two (value $255)
5. Dozen bottles of Vineyard Selection Sirromet wine (value $192)
6. Sirromet Wines-Paul Morris Motorsports merchandise (value $150)

Morris said the Lexmark Indy 300 on the 4.4km Surfers Paradise street circuit was viewed by V8 Supercar drivers as one of the highlights of their 13-round calendar.

"Racing between all the high rises next to the Surfers Paradise beach in front of more than 300,000 fans creates a unique atmosphere which we don't get anywhere else," said Morris.

"It's a 'rough and tumble' sort of track and all those concrete walls means you can't afford any mistakes or it's going to be expensive to fix the car afterwards."

Sirromet Managing Director Adam Chapman said the competition would reward the loyalty of customers and also consolidated the winery's association with motorsport and Morris' V8 Supercar team.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for our customers to have the chance of attending and enjoying a major sporting event with all the trimmings," he said. "It's also a good way to highlight our involvement with Paul (Morris) and his team."

Sirromet Wines has won more than 190 awards since it opened in 2000. This year Sirromet crushed 700-tonnes of Queensland fruit from its three vineyards, one at Mount Cotton and the other two at Ballandean on the Granite Belt. On-site attractions at Sirromet include Restaurant Lurleen's, tastings and tours.
