Last years top qualifier out to repeat his efforts this weekend
10/9/2004 12:45 (Press Release) -
Last years top qualifier in the ‘Betta Electrical Sandown 500’, Paul Radisich is intent on displaying a repeat performance of last years effort for this weekends 500km endurance event at Melbourne’s Sandown International Raceway.
Team Betta Electrical’s quiet achiever Radisich, teams up with Max Wilson in the Ford Falcon, car #88 for the gruelling 500km race on Sunday.
Last year saw Radisich put in an extraordinary effort initially to post the fastest time in qualifying, a time of 1:11.0674 whilst coming home in 7th place for the race.
Radisich appears totally focused on not only equalling his qualifying result of last year, but to also dramatically improve on his final placing in the race.
“I really think both Max and I have one of the best packages for this event and we both dial into this circuit very quickly and in a similar manner”.
It’s a good fast circuit, where you can maintain good speed and reach 260kph down the main straight and maintain the momentum along the back straight as well” – said Radisich.
“Both Max and I were very impressed with the cars handling at a recent shakedown test session at Queensland Raceway, after a few minor changes were made to the car”.
“The test session also allowed the entire team time to perfect their skills for the pit stops as well, so we are quietly confident of the teams overall performance this weekend” – he said.
The teams second entry in this weekends first endurance race of the season will be car #888 driven by Yvan Muller, current BTCC front runner and Dean Canto who featured so well in last years V8 Supercar Series.
“I am looking forward to the race” – said Muller “I am under no illusions as to how difficult this 500km event will be and I know it will take me a few laps to settle into a rhythm and get used to both the cars power and handling characteristics” - he said.
“Apart from the recent test day, it has been two years since I have driven one of these cars”.
“I have a good team-mate to share the drive with in Dean Canto and together, I know we will be very competitive come race day” – Muller concluded.
