Tasmanian Triple Challenge exceeding expectations
5/9/2004 23:16 (Press Release) -
Only three weeks following the official launch of the Tasmanian Triple Challenge V8 Supercar event, circuit upgrades and pre ticket sales are well exceeding the expectations of event organisers.
One of two proposed reserved seating grandstands has completely sold out while the other has only a limited numbers of seats available for pre-purchase.
The fast tracked upgrades to the Symmons Plains circuit are also ahead of schedule with the pit garages well underway and track resurfacing due to commence in early September.
AVESCO Chairman, Tony Cochrane said due to the phenomenal interest shown by the Tasmanian fans AVESCO Events will now consider building a third reserved seating grand stand.
“The response from the fans in Tasmania has been astounding,” Cochrane said. “We did not expect to sell out a grandstand in three weeks.
“There is a lot of interest from people wishing to pre-purchase three day event tickets and due to this demand, we are currently discussing building a third reserved seating grandstand for three day ticket holders.
“This is going to be the biggest attended event in Tasmania and unlike anything ever seen at Symmons Plains before.
“We are working very closely with Events Tasmania and Motorsport Tasmania to ensure the Tasmanian Triple Challenge is a great experience for everyone who attends,” Cochrane added.
Motorsport Tasmania are leaving nothing to chance and to ensure the circuit is ready for the November 12-14 event are nearing completion on some of the required track safety features including new tyre safety barrier walls.
A traffic management plan is also in development to ensure the expected capacity crowd quick and easy access to the circuit over the duration of the event.
Fans will be able to park and ride to the track and a new express entry system will be implemented to cope with the large volume of people entering the circuit.
Cochrane explained the express entry system would alleviate traffic congestion entering the circuit courtesy of a security fence that will be erected to separate the public viewing area from the parking area.
“This will allow people to quickly enter the precinct and park, and then enter the circuit via ticket entry points.
“Overflow parking areas have also been identified within close proximity to the circuit which will be linked via a shuttle bus program,” Cochrane said.
Three big screens, extra toilet facilities and an abundance of general catering facilities will all be bought in to improve the experience for fans at the event.
In addition to this a number of bar facilities will be erected to enable the general public to purchase alcohol at the event.
