Team Betta Electrical announce enduro driver pairings

5/9/2004 23:14 (Press Release) - Team Betta Electrical announced their driver pairings today for the forthcoming endurance races of the 2004 calendar, “The Betta Electrical Sandown 500” and “The Bob Jane T-Mart Bathurst 1000”.

Paul Radisich and Max Wilson will team –up in car #88, whilst Yvan Muller and Dean Canto take the controls of the second team entry car #888.

The team spent a day recently at Queensland Raceway this week putting both cars and drivers through their paces in this the last shake down before the Betta Electrical Sandown 500 – September 10 – 12.

Time was taken by the team in setting the cars up to suit both driver pairings, with drivers also practicing their respective changeover techniques.

The team also honed their skills in both brake pad and tyre changing stops throughout the day.

At the end of an eight-hour solid testing session the team came away pleased with the days results and eager to move onto the next round at Sandown.

Current British Touring Car Champion, Yvan Muller flew into Brisbane from the UK. To take part in testing and familiarisation process, gaining valuable laps during the course of the day.

V8 Supercars are not new to Muller, having previously raced in the endurance races here in 2000 with HRT and again in 2002 with the K-Mart Racing Team.

“The cars are very different from the ones I drive in Europe, with a lot more power and different handling characteristics with it taking a little time to adjust your driving style” – said Muller.

“I’ll be out there to perform to the best of my ability, I know we have a strong car and with Dean as my partner I know will have a great opportunity to perform at our best” – he said.

Radisich and Wilson are quietly confident of their chances in the popular 500km event, saying - “The car performed extremely well during testing, we both posted competitive times whist bedding in various component items”.

Radisich was the top qualifier in last year’s Sandown event, with a time of 1:11.0674, whist being placed 4th in the top ten shoot out and going on to finish the race in 7th position overall for the 500 km race.

Dean Canto, again driving the second team entry in last year’s race finished in 14th placing.
