Winterbottom heads west to Dowerin field day

Orrcon Racing V8 Supercar driver Mark Winterbottom will join the team at the Orrcon Steel and Tube Direct display at the Dowerin Field Days tomorrow in Western Australia.
The 40th Dowerin Field Days will be held over three days this week to showcase agricultural machinery, equipment, technology, products, produce and services in the heart of the Western Australian Wheatbelt just 164kms from the centre of Perth.
The Orrcon Steel and Tube Direct team will be joined by staff from the West Australian O’Conner branch to display products from the latest range of Australian made tube, pipe and steel.
Along with the display of the Orrcon products the Orrcon Racing simulator will be a part of the display. The simulator will be available for patrons on all three days of the event where they can attempt to better the time set by Winterbottom on Tuesday before he returns to Queensland for a test day in the Orrcon Racing Falcon later in the week.
All proceeds from the simulator will be donated to a local charity in the Dowerin region.
“Every time I have been to Western Australia I have only been to Perth or Kalgoorlie and both of them have just been to focus on racing so I am looking forward to getting out of the city a bit,” said Winterbottom.
“It is always good to get out and meet the people at these types of events because they don’t get to come to the races as often as they would like because most of the rounds are held on the other side of the country.”
Last weekend Winterbottom traded his Orrcon Racing BA Falcon for a stint behind the wheel of a Ford Falcon XY GT at the Leyburn Historic Sprints in central Queensland.
“It was certainly an experience driving one of these cars, it amazes you how they could go as fast as they did years ago,” said Winterbottom.
“I came into turn one and the brake went to the floor, then by turn three I gave the brake three pumps and finally got some brakes and turned the car in, it was a handful but a lot of fun.”
