Putting on the 'Ritz' at Mallala
5/9/2004 23:10 (Press Release) -
Speed FX Racing scored their first round win at Mallala last weekend when their Decina Bathroomware sponsored Falcon won two of the three races at the final round of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series.
Driver Greg “Ritz” Ritter was fastest qualifier, fastest in the warm up and again in the event final putting on a dominating performance in his first outing in the car.
“A round win was certainly a great way for us to complete our first Konica Minolta Series”, Team Owner, Jim Morton said today. “We come from a very successful background in karting where our drivers have won State, National, Continental and World Championships, so our expectations are always high”, he said.
“Greg has again shown himself to be a class act. With very few miles in any race car in 2004 he drove a mistake free and fast weekend for us”, Jim said. “Its like our best days in karting with drivers like James Courtney, Mark Winterbottom, Adam Clarke, Michael Caruso and Alan Gurr where we were able to be the benchmark in our class of motor sport”.
Greg Ritter will also be in the distinctive pastel coloured Decina car in the Bathurst Saturday race before teaming up with Marcos Ambrose in the Stone Brothers falcon on the Sunday.
Speed FX Racing had some heavy hitters in attendance in the pits on the weekend with Stone Brothers Engineer, Paul Forgie and Mechanic
Ben Croke in the pits. “ Paul and Bens expertise was a great help to our Team and we are very thankful to Stone Brothers for all their help in our move to V8 Supercars”, Jim Morton said.
“The Konica Minolta Series fits in well with our background in developing young drivers over the years”, he said. “We have always taken great pride in our ability to identify talent and make a contribution to their development. The four Ford supported ‘Kartstars’ winners all won Australian Championships for us”, he said.
