Jay Verdnik comes of age
5/9/2004 23:10 (Press Release) -
Jay Verdnik has certainly come of age in this year’s Konica Minolta series. Over the weekend at Mallala he again overcame some minor technical difficulties to put in another commendable performance.
Jay was in difficulty early in Race 1 with of all things a broken gear stick. Into the pits but time was against him, the team was officially rated as a Did Not Finish. Therefore starting at the back of the grid in Race 2, Jay had a wall of cars in front of him but persisted in working his way through as many as he could.
Race 3 in particular was worthy of note, putting everything behind him, he was driving hard like one of the championship leaders. A point not missed by our many supporters on the day.
On Sunday our team was privileged to have the company of over 100 of Jay’s supporters in the Hi-Trans Racing corporate facility.
The team was particularly delighted to have the company of Ross & Glenice McKenzie, owners of one of our major sponsors, Aunt Betty’s Wheelies of New Zealand. Our guests were more than pleased with Jay’s efforts & driving ability.
Jay Verdnik has competed very well over the entire Konica Minolta Series. Starting the series as a 17 year old, Jay has lived up to & surpassed all expectations of him. We can expect more good things from young Jay in the future. We look forward to 2005 with a great deal of eagerness.
Special thanks must go to our engineering team under the expert guidance of Mike Quinn. Mike, Phil, Tony, Chris & Jenny have been a great asset to our team, as has Neville our transport driver & detailer.
We would like to thank all of our “Corporate Partners” for their support during the season. Without their assistance, in particular that of Ross Dow, John Dow & Andrew Baird of Hi-Trans Express, our season would not have been the success it was.
Jay Motor Sport is proudly supported by: Hi-Trans Express, Aunt Betty’s Wheelies, Castrol, Royal Park Salvage, Brock Real Estate, Falcon Print, Breakaway Concrete Cutting & Drilling, SA Farmers Fuel, Supaloc, Dial A Tow, CBS, PPG, Avis Dee-Why, JV Crash & CSA Alloy Wheels.
