VESRIX Statistics - Oran Park V8Lites

16/6/2000 21:53 (Shane Rogers) - Statistics for Round 3 of the 2000 V8 Konica Lites Series, Oran Park Raceway, New South Wales.

This is the eighth time Oran Park Raceway has played host to a V8Supercar meeting, the previous 7 meetings all being Shell Series rounds. The previous winners were Jim Richards (1993), Glenn Seton (1994), John Bowe (1995), Peter Brock (1996), Greg Murphy (1997), Craig Lowndes (1998) and Mark Skaife (1999).

The individual heats have been won by Peter Brock (5), Glenn Seton (3), Craig Lowndes (3), Mark Skaife (3), John Bowe (2), Jim Richards and Alan Jones. The dashes have been won by Peter Brock, Glenn Seton, Mark Skaife, John Trimbole, John Faulkner, Trevor Ashby and Cameron McLean.

Holden have won 12 races at Oran Park compared to Ford's 6.

Craig Lowndes currently holds the lap record at 1:08.0631 and was set in 1999.

Holdens outnumber Fords in the entry 12-9.

Making their Oran Park V8Supercar debuts are Garry Holt, Shane Howison, Bill Seiders, John Falk, Ross Halliday, Matthew White, Tim Rowse, Daniel Miller, Rod Salmon, Ryan McLeod, Wayne Wakefield, Terry Wyhoon, Chris Butler and Peter Hansen.

The most experienced driver present in the entry list is Mal Rose with 48 race starts. It is the first time Rose's VS Commodore has started a race since the 1998 Bathurst Classic. Rose himself has made only one start as a co-driver since then, with Chris Smerdon in the 1999 Queensland 500. The only other drivers with more than 20 race starts in V8Supercar are Neil Schembri (44), Richard Mork (34), Wayne Wakefield (23) and Bill Attard (22).

The least experienced is Peter Hansen who will be having his first V8Supercar race on the weekend. He will be the 230th driver to start a V8Supercar race. The next least experienced is Shane Howison who has one previous race start at the Bathurst 1000 last year. 10 of the 21 drivers in the entry list have less than 10 V8Supercar starts.

The youngest driver in the field is Dean Canto at 19 years of age. The oldest is Richard Mork who is 52.
