RUSSELL INGALL AUCTIONS PIECE OF HISTORY

21/8/2004 0:17 (Jason Whittaker) - V8 Supercar hero Russell Ingall has put up a rare piece of motorsport memorabilia for auction through his new website.

The Caltex Havoline Ford driver has done a cleanout of his cupboards and found the last helmet he used as a Holden driver with Perkins Motorsport.

The helmet is being offered through Ingall’s new website www.russellingall.com.au and the auction will close on September 10 on the eve of the Betta Electrical Sandown 500 in Melbourne.

The helmet would be a fantastic edition to any collection and is expected to gain plenty of interest around Australia and internationally.

The helmet is a “must have” for any Holden, Ingall or general motorsport fan and will be personally autographed with any message requested by the purchaser.

“I guess this is a rare piece of motorsport history,” said Ingall.
“I have sold a couple of these helmets in the past, but this is the last one I have from my days at Holden.
“I have kept one for my own personal collection, but this will be the last one for sale.
“I am continually asked about my helmets and how much an original is worth – well now my fans can tell me.”

Ingall recently sold one of his current Caltex Havoline Ford helmets for $8000.

The helmet will also come with a personally signed and framed image of Ingall.

This helmet will be the first of a regular list of a valuable collector items to be made available on Ingall’s site, which has become one of the most popular in Australian motorsport since being launched six weeks ago.

“The response to the site and the way we are servicing the fans has been fantastic,” said Ingall.
“The list of people we are sending regular media releases to grows day by day.”

All fans need to do is log on at www.russellingall.com.au, click on the auctions section and then register to bid.

Ingall currently sits fifth in the V8 Supercar Championship Series and is still a serious championship contender with five of the 13 rounds still remaining.
