Summary of penalties: V8 Supercar Championship Series, Round Eight, Oran Park (NSW), 13-15 August 2004
Friday 13 August
An inquiry commenced into a report that car #11, Team Perkins Motorsport, was not in compliance with Rules C2.2.2 and C3.1.1 at the conclusion of Round 7 of the Championship held at Winton Motor Raceway.
The breach was admitted and a fine of $5,000 was imposed.
An adjourned inquiry from Round 7 of the Championship was held into a report that car #24, Garth Walden, had passed the chequered flag twice at the end of Practice Session 3. The breach was proved and a fine of $500 was imposed.
Steve Ellery Racing was fined $500 for failure to attend the Team Managers Briefing.
SATURDAY 14 AUGUST
Qualifying times for car #12, John Bowe, were deleted following failure to comply with directions of officials to weigh the car. However the car was permitted to start Race 1 from the rear of the grid.
Car #2, Mark Skaife, was fined $200 for exceeding the pit lane speed limit.
SUNDAY 15 AUGUST
Car #888, Max Wilson, was relegated to the rear of the grid for Race 1 for fitting a replacement tyre following the warm-up session.
An inquiry commenced into an alleged breach of Black/Orange Disc flag rules by car #23, David Besnard. This resulted in a penalty of an additional 25 seconds to total race time for car #23.
An inquiry commenced into an incident between car #11, Steven Richards, and car #10, Jason Bargwanna, in which contact was made between the two vehicles during Race 2. Car #11, Steven Richards, was found to have breached the Code of Driving Conduct which resulted in a penalty of an additional 25 seconds to total race time for car #11.
An inquiry commenced into a report that car #14, IMS Imrie Motorsport, changed an engine without the permission of the Category Technical Director. This resulted in the exclusion of car #14 from the results.
An inquiry was conducted into an alleged breach of pit lane Rules in that car #24, Romano Racing, used a solid object to prevent a wheel rolling away. The breach was proved and a fine of $1,000 was imposed.
An inquiry was held into an alleged breach of safety Rules in that the fire bomb cylinder from car #10, Jason Bargwanna, had become detached from the car during Race 1. This matter was referred to the Category Technical Director for further examination and investigation.
The following cars/drivers received a drive through penalty during Race 1: + Car #34, Garth Tander, for a pit lane infringement.
The following cars/drivers received a drive through penalty during Race 2: + Car #33, Cameron McConville, for a false start; Car #5, Glen Seton, + for a driving infringement.
