Noske and WPS Racing to part
19/8/2004 0:47 (Press Release) -
Driver Mark Noske today confirmed he and WPS Racing were parting company as both look towards securing long-term arrangements for the 2005 season.
The decision, which was amicably agreed by both Noske and WPS Racing team owner Craig Gore, would give both parties the balance of the current season to firm up plans for next year.
“It has been a difficult year and it is well chronicled that I missed the first three races of the season,” said Noske.
“Since then the results haven’t been as strong as we expected and Craig and I have had discussions about where we are both heading next year.
“The upshot of the discussions is that we have decided by mutual agreement to go our own ways so we can both focus on progressing plans for next year.
“I appreciate the way Craig has handled the whole situation. It has been discussed in a professional manner and we can now both get on with future plans.”
Noske will leave the team immediately.
An announcement on a replacement driver will be made ahead of the next round of the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Sandown.
Gore said he was disappointed at a personal level that he and Noske were parting.
“I have a great regard for Mark personally so this is a difficult announcement,” said Gore.
“We sat down and I made it clear where WPS was heading next year. After a number of discussions we decided that in the interests of giving both parties suitable time to prepare we would part company immediately.
“Mark gets to pursue a drive for next year with another team and we can move forward on our planning.”
