R6 PENALTIES - Bowe cleared, the Enforcer "reprimanded"

13/6/2000 21:54 (Jason Whittaker) - CAMS was on the prowl at the tight, narrow, paint-swapping concrete canyon of Canberra. Stewards imposed the following penalties over the weekend.

FRIDAY PRACTICE/QUALIFYING:
**Car 600, Cat Racing, was found to have breached the technical regulations by having an additional plate fitted as part of the oil cooler mounting bracket. The car was excluded from the results of qualifying and required to start at the rear of the grid in race one.

**The team manager of car 66 John Deere Grounds Care was found to have failed to attend the Team Managers briefing and was fined $500.

SATURDAY QUALIFYING/RACE:
**An inquiry was held into an incident between Craig Lowndes and Tony Longhurst in race one, after contact between the two had been made. After hearing both drivers comments, insufficient evidence was present to support a breach.

**An inquiry was held after John Bowe and Craig Baird made contact in race one, resulting in Craig Baird hitting the tyre barrier at the entry to pit lane. After examining the video tape and hearing from both drivers it was decided that neither driver would be penalised.

**Paul Morris was fined $500 after failing to obey the direction of an official on the starting grid for race one.

**An inquiry was held into an after race incident whereby Cameron McLean was found to have done an unauthorised “burnout” at the completion of the race. He was fined $500.

SUNDAY RACES:
**An inquiry was held into the incident between Greg Murphy and Mark Larkham during race two. After considering the matter the stewards decided that there should be no further action taken

**Russell Ingall was found to have exceeded the pit lane speed limit during race two and was fined $300.

**An inquiry was held into Russell Ingall completing an unauthorised “burnout” after race three, after which he was fined $1000.

**An inquiry was also held into an incident in the same race between Russell Ingall and Paul Weel, which resulted in Ingall breaching the careless driving regulation and having a severe reprimand imposed on him.

STOP/GO PENALTIES:
Mike Donaher - Cutting corners
Steven Ellery - Cutting corners
Russell Ingall - Cutting corners
Brad Jones - Speeding in Pit Lane
Paul Weel - Code of driving conduct

FUTURE HEARINGS:
**At the next round of the championships two hearings will be held. The first is in relation to an incident between Larry Perkins and Steven Reed during race three, the second after an incident between Rodney Forbes and Steven Ellery in the same race.
